Trick or Treat

Trick-or-treating is a customary celebration for children on Halloween. Children go in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as candy or sometimes money, with the question, "Trick or treat?" The word "trick" refers to a (mostly idle) threat to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given.

To celebrate Halloween, my children and I decided to bake a cake and simply decorated it.

It turned out ugly.

The ugliest cake I had ever baked!

It wouldn't be Halloween without trick-or-treating.

Brenda Photo Challenge

This morning, I went to the Ipoh Immigration Office to renew my passport. When I reached there, I headed straight to the form counter. The officer asked me if I wanted a 2 year or a 5 year passport. He told me that it's only RM100 for 2 years passport. That was very tempting but it took me a while to think.

When I decided a 5 year passport, he pointed to the kiPPas.

I haven't seen it before. As I entered the kiPPas, an officer assisted me throughout the process. It took hardly 5 minutes and I could collect my new passport in 2 hours time.

Krispy Kreme

Vernon Carver Rudolph is the founder of the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Company.

Krispy Kreme first started back in 1937 when Vernon Rudolph bought a secret yeast raised doughnut recipe from a French chef from New Orleans.

BERJAYA Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Sdn Bhd plans to invest between RM10mil and RM24mil to open 20 Krispy Kreme Doughnuts stores locally in five years.

Executive director Datuk Francis Lee says the investment outlay per outlet is RM500,000 to RM1.2mil, depending on the size and concept.

The hole in the center of the doughnut is credited to a young boy named Hanson Gregory, who, in 1847, suggested to his mother that she put a hole in the middle of her “fried cakes” to ensure the cake was fully cooked in the middle.

Krispy Kreme opened its first store in Malaysia on the 27th April 2009 at Berjaya Times Square.

Krispy Kreme International president Jeff Welch says Malaysia is its third South-East Asian market after the Philippines and Indonesia. The company plans to open outlets in Turkey and China this year.

We had these 6 doughnuts, namely powdered strawberry, cappuccino franc, hershey chocolate, new york cheesecake and chocolate cake.

They were indeed delicious..

Polo Ground-SS1

Taman Rekreasi Sultan Abdul Aziz is located off Jalan Tambun. It is also known as the Polo Ground. It has the best jogging track in Ipoh City.

Beijing Jade Carving

I went to Beijing in June 2006 with a group of friends. The Jade Carving factory was very interesting.

The brief introduction

The art of jade carving and polishing was already well developed some 3,000 years ago in the Zhou and Shang dynasties.

The factory was founded in 1958.

With its bright and pure luster, jade has always been considered by the Chinese to be a treasure of tremendous value.

It has great economical value.

Because of its toughness, jade is extremely difficult to carve: as the ancients said, it was “worked with its own dust”.

Green is the traditional color, and the most expensive.




Jades also come in varieties of colours.

Jade is the collective term for two substances: Nephrite (a silicate of magnesium) and Jadeite (a silicate of aluminum).

One must appraise a piece according to how “pleasing” one finds it: how fine the color, clarity, carving style and texture.
