Oh Sushi

We went to Oh Sushi at the De Gardens one fine Friday night. Since we haven't been there before, I would love to give it a try.

Just before we made an entrance, my girl told me that the restaurant would give 5% discount for Jusco Card holder. So I had to go back to my car to get my card. I left it to them to find a place inside the restaurant.

When I came back with the card, I saw that they were seated next to the counter just immediately after the entrance. Well, normally, I would find a seat further away from the counter. Since they were already seated, I wouldn't want to make a fuss about it.

The place looked good. I started taking some pictures. While they chose their meals, I simply had a look at the menu and started snapping away. I was hardly into half the menu book, I heard a voice from behind,

"Don't take pictures of the menu!"

It was loud and clear. I stopped and pretended nothing had happened. But I was grumbling softly, "I do it for you. Don't you see?"

Anyway, since they were not happy with my photographing, I might as well not show them here.

If you want to see what we had, you can just hop over to Scrumptious.

I don't think I will go there again..

Good News Cup

This is a very special mug..

"Have a hot drink and be blessed!

I was curious as I saw it standing on the table at my friend's place.

It has a ceramic cover.

"For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish but have eternal life."

According to the giver, the mug had to be filled with hot water.

I was eager to see the transformation
so my friend poured hot water into it and covered it.
Immediately, I could see it!

and here..all around the mug

Isn't it amazing?

But I am not sure how the words are connected.

I definitely loved the word

My mum has eight children. We were rather poor and when my eldest sister was born, my mum was not able to take care of her. My grandmother who was my father's stepmother, adopted her. My mum was not allowed to visit my sister at all. So as she grew up, she regarded herself an orphan. But my aunties ie my father's stepsisters, were understanding and they tried to make our relationship worked.

However, she knew that she has 4 brothers and 3 sisters. I was in the same school as her. We did see each other quite often in school. As I grew older and I knew how to cycle, I would cycle to my grandmother's house to visit my sister.

One day, I talked to my sister about our parents. She was not happy as she was the only one not with the family. I told her to reconcile with my mum but she refused saying that my grandmother was the one that supported her through and not my mum.

I told her that she was lucky as she could go to university but not us as my parents couldn't afford it. Somehow, she was not eager to come back even after she was married.

But I kept in touch with her. She was posted to JB after her degree in USM. When I got married, I was rather busy with my life. So we hardly see each other. No matter what, we wrote to each other.

Until recently in 2005, my brother and I decided to visit my sister. At that time, my grandmother had already passed away. So my sister was not worried anymore. I brought along my mum. Initially, my mum was not eager but I insisted that she followed me there.

When my mum and my sister met after all these years, they were rather mutual. That started their connection. My sister started to call more often asking about my mum and even talked to her once in a while.

In 2006, she saw my mum again during my mum's birthday celebration.

Recently, I made a trip to JB and this time, my mum willingly tagged along. When we reached her house, I was surprised that both my mum and sister were in the room for quite some time. When they came out, we had a group photo taken.

my sis and my mum

Here I took a close shot of both my mum and my sister. Guess this was the first time they felt they were close to each other.

When we reached the hotel, I asked my mum what happened in the room. She related her story:

Mum: "It wasn't that I didn't want you. After you, I gave birth to your brother and your sister. I couldn't take care of so many of you. Since Ah Mah wanted you, I gave you to her."

Sis: "Well, it happened long ago. Let's not talk about it anymore."

Guess my sister knew about that long ago but it's just that she needed to hear from my mum herself.

My mum felt so relief as finally she had the strength to speak out and thus that heavy burden she had been carrying was lifted off.

I was so glad that this trip was a success.. I am happy for both my mum and my sister.

Christmas Hampers

Well, I started wrapping hampers as a novice. I started in June 2008 when I did the very first one. I took ages in just wrapping a single hamper. I even needed help from someone in accomplishing the wrapping.

As time goes by, I become better and better. Now I just do it all on my own.

Here's my hampers!

How much were they?

That's my very spot where I always do my hampers.

Here, I did the smallest one.
It's only RM30!
Very saleable too!

Christmas Brunch

I have known this couple since 1999 when we did our Tesl degree together. We enjoyed each other's company when we were away from our hometown studying in UPSI. We did our assignments together too.

After graduating, we still keep in touch with each other. Both of them are my only Indian friends who always visit me during CNY and I am their only Chinese friend who always visit them during Christmas.

After a short stop at my husband's shop to get some stuff as gifts, my girl and I quickly rushed to their house at about 11pm.

Merry Christmas, my dear friend!

Nice to see you!

We were treated to breakfast as we hadn't taken our breakfast yet.
That's puttu mayam!

When the food for lunch came, we had another round of enjoying the food.

the rice

curry mutton

mixed vegetables

vegetarian mutton

We tried all the food except mutton..

After that, we quickly got back to my husband's shop where I was busy wrapping Christmas hampers for sales until almost 8pm!

Happy Red Christmas!

Last Sunday, I bought Christmas caps for my staff. Since Monday, we had been wearing the caps. They were all very cooperative. I decided that we wore red on Christmas day and they were complying very well.

So today we wore red to celebrate Christmas. The customers were amazed to see us in good Christmas spirit. We were all so gleeful and cheerful!

Peace to you!

Harmony to you!

Joy to you!

Merry Christmas!

Marina Bay Sands Singapore

Marina Bay Sands features three 55-storey hotel towers which were topped out in July 2009. The three towers are connected by a 1 hectare sky terrace on the roof, named Sands SkyPark.

In front of the three towers include a Theatre Block, a Convention and Exhibition Facilities Block, as well as the Casino Block, which have up to 1000 gaming tables and 1400 slot machines. The Art-Science Museum is constructed next to the three blocks and has the shape of a lotus. Its roof will be retractable, providing a waterfall through the roof of collected rainwater when closed in the day and with laser shows when opened at night. The Art-Science Museum opens in December 2010.

The SkyPark is home to the world's longest elevated swimming pool with a 146-metre (478-foot) vanishing edge, perched 191 metres above the ground. The pools are made up of 422,000 pounds of stainless steel and can hold 376,500 gallons (1424 cubic metres) of water. The SkyPark also boasts rooftop restaurants, nightclubs, gardens hundreds of trees and plants and a public observatory with 360-degree views of the Singapore skyline.
