Colosseum

Apart from the leaning tower of Pisa, the colosseum is a must-not-be-missed historical building. We could only view from afar. We gathered there to take a group photo. Hope to see it soon.

Emperor Vespasian, founder of the Flavian Dynasty, started construction of the Colosseum in 72 AD. It was completed in 80 AD, the year after Vespasian's death.

The huge amphitheater was built on the site of an artificial lake, part of Nero's huge park in the center of Rome which also included the Golden House (Domus Aurea) and the nearby Colossus statue. This giant statue of Nero gave the building its current name.

  2. Imagine all the fights taking place in the colosseum a long time ago and it is still here today. At least you get to see it with your own eyes although you did not walk close to it.

  7. looks like this is quite a rush trip, because you have so many places to cover within that few days.. looks like most of the places you were just brought to have a brief stop or just to have a view from afar.. anyway, free trip, never mind lah.. "survey" this time and next round on your own trip, you would know where to go and where not.. :)

    1. Seems that ladies were only allowed to sit on the upper seats so that they couldn't really see what's actually happening down there. Colosseum was a happening thing as those days they didn't have any other form of entertainment.

  11. I really love this building and wish to visit there someday. So many movies have been made there but I believe they used the props to create the same stadium.
