UTC-The Perak Urban Transformation Centre

The Perak Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) here has drawn more than 47,000 visitors within a month since it opened at the end of December in 2012.
Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said the UTC, located in the building, which used to house the Super Kinta supermarket had 57 agencies providing various services for the convenience of the public.
Ahmad Husni said the Perak UTC measuring 157,000 sq ft in size was bigger than the Kuala Lumpur UTC and Malacca UTC, with 33 and 74 agencies respectively.
"The number of agencies placed at the UTCs is not based on the size of the premises but on the residents' needs," he said. Among the agencies placed at the Perak UTC are Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Ipoh City Council, National Registration Department, Land and District Office and the Perak Water Board.

The first time I heard about it was from my husband. He went there to renew his passport. He didn't have to go to the Jabatan Imigresen in Meru.

As for me, the first time I went there was to find out regarding my girl's PTPTN. She has received a letter from them. So I went there to enquire about the payment and I was glad that if I pay in a lump sum, I will get a discount of 20%. That's great news.

So I printed out the letter from the office stating the exact amount that I have to pay. This morning, I went there to pay and it was so easy..not much queue.

But it's not easy to find a parking lot. I had parked illegally twice and I was praying that I wouldn't get any summons. I was considered lucky.

  1. A one stop center - very convenient! So do they accept credit card to settle the PTPTN amount?

  2. Finding a vacant parking lot is usually not easy in places like this - even in Putrajaya, it is difficult to find a vacant parking lot within walking distance. Sometimes have to park very, very far away in muddy fields (no space in the proper car parks).

  23. Well our govt is always trying hard to improve things along the way. The most remarkable thing I liked is the chips inside our passports that could save us so much time at airports!! correct?

  24. I am also a lousy driver! I used to pay over RM1000-2000 for speeding! I was so angry that I swore to stop speeding and save the money to travel overseas. My 2000cc cars have been reduced to 1600cc. LOL
