Resignation
This staff has been with us for almost a year and eight months. When he came in last March, he was very enthusiastic. I remember he told the boss to give him three weeks to learn up everything about his work load.
He is actually a very hardworking person but at times his memory failed him. He told us that he had an accident when he was very young, He had to be saved as his skull was a bit injured. We fully understood his condition so we made sure that we don't stressed him up.
He is moderate in his job and the boss is not too happy. He used to make mistakes and forget things easily. His system of work is not systematic too. But he's good in recognising the herbal stuff as he is well-versed with it.
But working with us doesn't mean he just does his own stuff. He has to do other stuff too which made him a very busy person.
On the other hand, he's a jovial person. Even though he got scolded by the boss most of the time, he still managed to maintain his own self. I truly respect him on that.
He got confirmed after 4 months but recently when he reached a year, he still hasn't got an increment. According to the boss, he's still not happy with his work so no increment yet.
So just two days ago, he handed in his resignation letter. He has decided to quit and work somewhere else in KL. He said he wanted a better prospect. I believe he's not happy working here as his boss is always too bossy and likes to scold.
The boss now felt that he's going to lose him. Too late as this staff is going to leave us for good. Even though the boss offered to increase his pay, he wouldn't withdraw his resignation option.
Anyway, he has been a good staff and a good colleague to the others too. So in conjunction with his resignation, I decided that we give him a farewell lunch next Sunday..
I would like to thank him personally as he has been very helpful to me. He helped me to do some stuff like fetching my boy from school and even helped me to pay some bills.
Thank you very much, L.
We shall miss you and your funny jokes..
wow , though he sometimes not efficient on his task given by your boss , he still manage to build good rapport to his fellow staff that leaves a good image and a truly unquestioned legacy to all ...
ReplyDeleteyes, I really admire his patience..
DeleteCan't blame a staff looking for better prospects n work environment. All the best to him.
ReplyDeleteOur shop is a stepping stone for him. We encourage him to go for the better too..
DeleteHuman is funny.. when we about to loose the person..
ReplyDeletewe will give all the benefit to the person to ask them stay..
it's already too late..we should appreciate our people every now and then..
DeleteI am happy for him that he is leaving for a better job so he could provide a better living for himself and his family.
ReplyDeleteWe are happy for him too..but the boss feels sad.
DeleteGot an old ex-colleague who always get an increment each time he tenders his bye bye letter not only that promotion comes along too. He is good at his job and also a blue eye boy of the MD. He has all the chance to be the next GM but turned down the offer as he prefers not to be relocated but to stay put in Penang.
ReplyDeleteif one is not happy with his present job, one will also tend to resign..
DeleteAll the best to Him..
ReplyDeleteyes..
Deletei think everyone are looking for better prospect to develop themselves through the years, and switching job is so often and no uncommon at all..
ReplyDeletetrue, everyone wants to move up accordingly with better pay too..
Deletein fact i think those who work in the same place for the rest of their life is rather uncommon instead, haha!! how could they never thought of changing??
ReplyDeleteit's all about comfort zone..
Deletewell, i guess there are a lot of factors that determine a person to stay or to leave.. job satisfaction, motivation, rewards, relationship, prospect, perspective etc etc, there are just too many things that are intertwined..
ReplyDeletetrue..but I guess the relationship with the boss is the most important..
Deleteglad that he is finding himself a greener pasture in KL.. and i am sure you are happy for him too right?? :)
ReplyDeleteyes, I am happy for him..At least he won't have to be scolded by his boss anymore..
Deletewow, i think he is really helpful huh?? besides the things he need to do, as well as handling the job of other colleagues, he also helps you personally in your chores.. how nice!!
ReplyDeleteI truly appreciates that..that's why I always treat him in one way or another.
Deleteall the best to L.. and looking forward to what you are treating him for his farewell lunch~~ :p

Deletestaff come and go is a norm thing, boss can not hinder the staff progress if they can not provide one. Wish your colleague all the best and in good health.
ReplyDeleteemployees seldom stay in one place forever so expect change every now and then..
DeleteGood staff are hard to find nowadays...
ReplyDeletemore people work just for the sake of money..
DeleteAfter this, I am sure the boss will know how to appreciate the staff more next time.. :)
ReplyDeleteHe must show his appreciation by using kind words and not scoldings..
DeleteIt's a norm of life for staffs to come and go . Even in our working life we also does that. When have better offer , will tend to "jump ship"
ReplyDeletetrue, it's normal for every one to change job when there's a better opportunity..
Deletework slow and a bit forget full is okay as long as honest. No stealing.
ReplyDeletesometimes unlucky get staffs that steal from the shop.
true..he's a very honest guy and he's willing to learn too.
DeleteCant help in scolding staffs but at times must praise also lor. If keep scolding or negative words only staffs will be unhappy also.
ReplyDeleteI still think a boss shouldn't scold..just tell nicely..surely the staff will listen.
Deletein the current employment world, bosses cannot be bossy any more as staffs has better knowledge and education level now. Guess all bosses will feel losses only when one decide to leave. Hope you find another staff soon to replace him.
ReplyDeletetrue, bosses has to be friendly too..
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice of you to give him a farewell. This is defenitely a good way to show your appreciation for his help.
ReplyDeleteI thought so..
DeleteChange is always constant in life. So, all the best for his future undertakings.
ReplyDeletewe wish him that..
