University of Otago

The University of Otago (Māori: 'Te Whare Wānanga o Otāgo') in Dunedin is New Zealand's oldest university. It had over 21,000 students enrolled during 2011. The university has New Zealand's highest average research quality and in New Zealand is second only to the University of Auckland in the number of A rated academic researchers it employs. It topped the New Zealand Performance Based Research Fund evaluation in 2006. Founded in 1869 by a committee including Thomas Burns, the university opened in July 1871. Its motto is "Sapere aude" ("Dare to be wise").

nice sculpture

By the way, I had lunch with Claire two days ago. She treated me with delicious claypot rice. Hop over to Scrumptious to see what we had for lunch and have a peep at the gifts which Claire and Small Kucing gave me.

  16. Oh that's a well known university. I have heard much of its academic execellence for a long time. It is not easy to apply to gain entry unless we have good A levels.

    2. It is interesting that your tour covers a visit to this oldest university. I never heard of tourists taking a tour at our local universities. So far the nicest looking university in Malaysia is Kampar's UTAR. Plenty of huge lakes, beautiful birds and modern buildings.
