Hong Kong - review

We went for some sightseeing in Hong Kong 5 days ago.

The Golden Bauhinia Square 金紫荊廣場 is an open area in Wan Chai North, Hong Kong.

The sculpture is deemed a very important symbol for the Hong Kong people after reunification. On the second day of Chinese New Year and National Day of the People's Republic of China, the square is lighted up by a firework show.

The sculpture, a gilded flower bauhinia, is 6 meters high. The major part is composed of a bauhinia on a base of red granite pillar on a pyramid.

The square was named after the giant statue of a golden Bauhinia blakeana at the centre of the area, situated outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, where the ceremonies for the handover of Hong Kong and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was held in July 1997. A flag-raising ceremony is held every day at 8:00am.

But we missed the flag-raising ceremony.

We love this place very much.

Next, we adjourned to Aberdeen to see the floating restaurant.

The Jumbo Kingdom was established in October 1976 by Dr. Stanley Ho after four years and over HK$30 million were spent to design and build it. It was originally decorated in the style of an ancient Chinese imperial palace.

It is located in the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter cum marina where we can see both Chinese junks and yachts.

Jumbo Kingdom (珍寶王國) consists of the Jumbo Floating Restaurant (珍寶海鮮舫) and the Tai Pak Floating Restaurant (太白海鮮舫), renowned tourist attractions in Hong Kong's Aberdeen Harbour.

Anyway, we didn't eat the seafood in those big beautiful oriental palace-like boats.

Then, we went to the Wong Tai Sin Temple.

Wong Tai Sin Temple 黃大仙祠 is one of the most famous shrines in Hong Kong. It is dedicated to Wong Tai Sin, or the Great Immortal Wong.

The temple is located on the southern side of Lion Rock in the north of Kowloon.

The 18,000- Taoist temple is famed for the many prayers answered: "What you request is what you get" (有求必應) via a practice called Kau Cim.

Yuk Yik Fountain has 7 beautiful lotuses.

A very beautiful place to visit.

Last but not least, we visited the Repulse bay.

Repulse Bay is an area in the southern part of Hong Kong Island, located in the Southern District, Hong Kong.

There are plenty of statues at the temple. It's a beautiful place to visit.
