Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Yesterday was the Chinese New Year eve. As usual, I was away from work. I had to be home to prepare the reunion lunch. I finished cooking at 1pm. When my girl wanted to take lunch, I realised that the pot of rice was not cooked. I had forgotten to press the ON button. Anyway, in just a short while, the rice was ready. Both my girl and I quicky took our lunch as I had to send her to the dental clinic for her braces appointment. 

When we reached the clinic, my girl asked me to wait for her as it wouldn't take long. While waiting, my boy called me if he could take lunch. Of course, he didn't have to wait for us as we had already eaten. He didn't have to wait for his father too as he wouldn't come back early even though it was closed at 2pm. 

I waited for 45 minutes. I just played with my phone as I had nothing better to do. When we reached home, it was already 3.30pm. Finally, when my husband came back, it was already almost 5pm.

I had to reheat or rather recook those dishes..

 I cooked cili sauce for the fish.

I stirred-fried those barbecued chicken and pork.
And I also heated up the sengkuang together with the vegetables.
Also boiled up the old cucumber soup.

Fot the sake of the reunion lunch, I ate again for the second time..

So the CNY contest was officially closed. The winner is very obvious. She has sent in so many posts of her ang pow creation.

Yesterday she passed her ang pow creation of the 'snake' to my boss. I had asked her to show me the 'snake' as I  was curious to see how it's like in reality.

So I had seen it and it was indeed painstakingly created.

    only reunion lunch?? what about reunion dinner?? for me, as usual, we had steamboat dinner.. for the past more than 10 years, all relatives come to our house for steamboat!! haha..

      Thank goodness that I have a MIL who can cook like a storm every year. I don't need to worry about my reunion dishes.

Twin bananas

Today this cute little darling visited me. His grandparents brought him over for the very first time. He's so cute as he smiled readily. I was tempted to carry him and he was fine with that. Some babies don't like strangers.  I carried him and kissed his cheek several times..So adorable. Without hesitation, I gave him an ang pow. his granddad put him on the table and I took a shot of him.. When I went back home in the evening, I realized that the bunch of bananas at the altar has ripen. I brought the bunch to my shop and shared with my people. There was this particular twin bananas and my worker wanted them. She peeled them and I could see that they were adjoined all the way down.
