My second aunt

My eldest aunt (my late dad's sister) passed away recently and many relatives were present. My second, third and youngest aunties were there too. I haven't seen them for ages. We didn't talk much as we had the rituals to follow for the whole night of last Friday. Last Saturday was the funeral and we had another ritual to follow. When everything was done, it was already past noon. Then we followed to the graveyard. My late aunt was buried beside her late husband who passed away many years ago. The day was fine as it had been raining for the whole night before the funeral. The grave was wet and it was messy. Anyway, all's done and by the time we got home, it was already 2.30pm after we had our lunch at the casual market.

mum and second aunt

My second aunt lives in Ipoh but I haven't seen her for quite some time. Recently my uncle, her husband had passed away and I didn't know about it. I felt sorry for her. Last Thursday, she had gone to Taiping by bus as she couldn't get me.

After the funeral, she decided to follow me back to Ipoh and last night she stayed at my mum's place. We chatted and I found that she was actually a very easy-going person. Previously, we had the impression that she didn't like people to bother her.

Her late husband was a more homely person and so she had to accompany her. That was why she hardly came out too. But now it's a difference case. She's all alone as her children are all in UK.

I heard a lot of story from her about her family. I might relate about it some time.

We have lots to catch up, aunt. Hope to see more of you in future..
God bless you...

    1. The ritual reminded me of my grandparents' funeral. It was tiring and long process. We have to kneel and stand most of the ritual. That was more than 15 years ago but the memory of my grandparents still remain. I miss them.

    1. yes, burial can still be selected.

    2. Here we can't select, as in the website, they stated Allocation of burial plots is strictly by sequential order and an applicant shall be
allocated a burial plot on the day of the intended burial. An applicant shall not be
entitled to select any other burial plot instead of the allocated burial plot.

    3. the burial plot might not be selected but what I meant here was we can select whether we want a burial or a cremation.

  7. Hello Wenn,

May your eldest aunt rest in peace. Sometimes it is the sad events like funerals that bring relatives together.
Good to hear that you gave your 2nd aunt a lift back to Ipoh. Sounds like you will be seeing your second aunt a lot more now that you found her to be a pleasant person. :)

  11. This post is so special and brought so much sentimental memories flooding to my head. We all have common stories in life about births, weddings and funerals which say that our lives are just a journey for us to walk. So we should live meaningfully and lead the middle paths in everything we do.
