Champs Elysees

That morning was very cold as it was windy. Anyway, I had to take pictures of this stunning place..

I like statue of horses.

this area is rather vast

rows of grand shops along the road

everyone seems to love this place

The Place Charles de Gaulle, historically known as the Place de l'Étoile, is a large road junction in Paris, the meeting point of twelve straight avenues including the Champs-Élysées which continues to the east. It was renamed in 1970 following the death of General and President Charles de Gaulle

ah ha..even a place to jog

a great sky too

The Champs Elysées (Elysian fields) were originally nothing but fields, until Marie de Medicis decided in 1616 to put up a long tree-lined pathway. In 1667, Le Notre extended the vista of the Tuileries and the Champs-Elysees became a very fashionable place to walk. In 1724, the avenue was extended up to Chaillot hill, now the site of the Arc De Triomphe and the Etoile.

The actual avenue of the Champs-Elysées did not become city property until 1828, when they added footpaths and fountains. They also added gas lighting at this time.

Today, the Champs Elysées is one of the most famous streets in the world, with its cinemas, cafés, and luxury specialty shops. This special status made it the site of much growth and activity. At the very heart of Paris, it is one of the most symbolic places in the city, representative of its spirit and glory.

  5. With facebook and blog its a wonderful way to have a journal of the names and places visited. During that very moment can remember but after a few years will have to scratch our think skull where and what is the name of the place. Of course we do have exception cannot forget Eiffel Tower or the Lido Show coz many slept through the sexy topless show, too tired after sleeping in the transit lounge for more than 10 hours coupled with jetlag. At that time the whole of Subang Airport was flooded and all flight schedules were interrupted. What a night mare!

  11. Hola Wenn!

It's been my dream to visit Paris. I have heard a lot of people talking about Paris. One of my friends even showed the photos of her trip to Paris. Wish I have the money to go there.

The buildings are awesome. I always love old buildings. I don't think modern people know how to build such buildings today. Don't you think so?
