camel ride
My girl was so excited when she saw the camel for the first time. The camel was waiting to give a ride but she didn't dare to take it. Actually, it was not free, got to pay for the ride!
It stands from 1.8 to just over 2 m tall at the shoulders, and weighs from 250 to 680 kilograms. Its rope like tail is over 50 cm long.
It has large eyes on the sides of its head. Each eye is protected by long, curly eyelashes that keep out sand.
It also has a large mouth and 34 strong, sharp teeth.
The hump of a camel is mostly a lump of fat. Bands of strong tissue hold pads of fat together, forming the hump above the backbone.
A camel does not chew its food well before swallowing it. The animal's stomach has three sections, one of which stores the poorly chewed food. This food, or cud, is later returned to the mouth in a ball-like glob, and the camel chews it. The chewed food is then swallowed and goes to the other parts of the stomach to be completely digested. Camels, deer, cattle, and other kinds of animals that digest their food in this way are called ruminants.
Wow, now you became camel-expert wenn! :D

I think it's sort of scary for little kids. After all, it's not a pony! It is huge! Thanks for the info on camel. Maybe your girl would like to ride it when she is older.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to sit on a camel and go on a spin one day :)
ReplyDeleteI was looking for you on a camel's back, hehe! Were you able to ride on it?

This camel looks smaller, so much cleaner and very cute with the double hump as compared to those in Egypt. I was lucky, almost fell over to the front when it got up from the kneeling position to stand on fours. Great info about camel. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWenn: Neat look at the ship of the desert, a very unique critter for sure. I enjoyed you post and the neat photos of the camel. I have written on one at a zoo.
ReplyDeleteThanks to you now I got to know camel better.
ReplyDeletehow much to pay for a ride?

I love camels and rode on them quite a few time when I was in Egypt and Morocco, they are such funny animals ! I think you went to my cat blog and not to the main one.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thot the lumps r full of water. Now I know. ;)
ReplyDeleteNever ridden a camel but who knows
ReplyDeleteThis camel looks quite hairy leh!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. I did a camel safari some years ago, and the first 5 or 6 minutes were the worst. Once I got used to the camel's gait and realised I was not going to fall off, all fear left me and I enjoyed it immensely.
ReplyDeleteCheers.

That is a very cute pretty little camel, I really enjoy camel riding and so so when ever I had the chance. Which sadly is not often. I like the strange motion of the beast but it is nice and comfortable with no danger of falling off.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking camel though!
ReplyDeleteThe Camel is just toooooo cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Cheers.
