SPM soon
My boy will be sitting for his SPM soon. He seems to be so relaxed and not excited at all. I remembered when I was sitting for my exams, I would spend much time studying.
Those days, I was living in a house where all the lights would be switched off at night. So I had to use the small bulb to light up my table. Nowadays, kids are so lucky. They have all the bright lights that they need. And they can even study with the laptop accompanying them.
When I was studying for my exam, I would usually get up very early in the morning and start studying. I realized I could absorb easily what I studied. Those days, we studied in groups. We even formed our own groups after school. We would take turns and study in each other's houses.
Bur modern kids don't do that. They prefer to study on their own. I always encourage my son to study with his clever friends. But he doesn't like the idea. That means he has to depend on himself.
I only hope that he understands what he has studied. Hope he could do his exam well.
All the best to you, my boy!
I used to study by myself than in group when sat for SPM. And wow, that was 20 years ago. And my mum used to say how relaxed I were. I still have time to watch tv and slept around 9 pm.
ReplyDeleteI studied both in groups and by myself.
DeleteYea, I studied very hard too during SPM, actually for all exams la!
ReplyDeleteEven burnt the midnight oil for nights.
Your boy seems relax? May be he is well prepared already? =)
DeleteAnyway, good luck to your boy!
Thanks, Hayley!
DeleteYes, I studied very hard for all my exams too..
Dear Wenn,
ReplyDeleteAll the best to your son for his SPM! I think it depends on the student's preference to study on his/her own or in groups. I did both. Sometimes study on my own, somtimes study in groups.
May your son stay calm and focus during exam time.
Thanks, Mun!
DeleteYes, it's one's preference on how he/she studies..
Yes, Wenn... our times were more difficult when it comes to studying... I couldn't even afford to buy reference books or those activity books... no tuition... no private rooms to study... my siblings and I were cramped at a small corridor with one table and a yellow light bulb...hahaha... those were the days... if our kids were to have this kind of condition, they would faint! hahaha...
ReplyDeleteYes, we parents always give the best to our kids..
DeleteEarly mornings are the best time to absorb what one studies.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to your Son, Wenn.
Yes, after a good night rest..
DeleteI don't like studying and exams!! Anyway, good luck to your son! : )
ReplyDeleteThanks, foongpc!
DeleteYes, studying is tedious..
oh SPM soon?? when was my SPM?? ah, close to 20 years ago!! haha.. not a bad thing your son is relaxed actually, at least he doesn't give too much pressure to himself which may be a bad thing :)
ReplyDeleteGood that he's relaxed but hope he's studying well..
Deletewe didn't study in group during my time too.. well, I guess as long as your son is comfortable with his way of studying, just let him do it.. all the best to your son and I'm sure he will have good results.. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks SK!
DeleteYes, good that he's comfortable with himself..
Oh, Malaysia SPM and Singapore O Level different period...
ReplyDeleteYes, should be on different time..
DeleteHeard my friend mention O level now on going for her son...

ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharon!
DeleteWhen will SPM results be out in Malaysia?
DeleteIs the exam in english or in Malay?
DeleteWhat is your son plan after SPM?
DeleteResults will be out next April. Some papers in Malay and some in English. He plans to study music.
DeleteHave a great day ahead...
ReplyDeletesame to you..
DeleteToday is the 1st day of SPM.. Good Luck to your boy ya..
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree.. Youngters nowadays..During my time, I studied very hard too.. I was so scared of failing because my dad said if I fail, then no need to go to college.. Can just terus work after SPM finishes..Times changed now.. Parents will terbalik tell their kids "don't stress yourself, no need to study so hard ya, as long as no fail enuff, pass already very good ok"
DeleteAs long as your son has prepared for the exams, let him be lor. When children take exams, parents are more kan cheong than the kid.. haha... actually, it's a good thing the kid has a peaceful and relaxed mind before the exam... Too stressed also not a good thing..
DeleteThanks, LouizYee!
DeleteYes, those days, we were so worried that we might fail..
True, we wouldn't like our kids to feel stressed..
Guess your son is well prepared huh? Nowadays my friend's son or daughter also act the same way. So relax.
ReplyDeleteMy time I was so worried...Study every night. Lately, my friend's son still can go for a movie!
DeleteIt's good that they don't feel stressed.
DeleteAll the best to your boy!!! =]
ReplyDeleteThanks..
DeleteThese days, most parents would give a better living and lifestyle for their kids. My wife had a terrible growing up years where her mother disliked a daughter and forbade her to study or have tuition. So she had to use candles to study underneath her bed when her parents went to sleep. She became the only one who went to university on scholarship while the other 2 pampered sons are good for nothings today.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that your wife has achieved her dreams.
DeleteYour son will do well because he has a very good mother!
ReplyDeleteoh ya..thanks TM!
