Petron card

I used Smiles card for many many years. At times, I lost my card. So, I applied for new ones. Actually, they were not lost but being misplaced by myself.

I was surprised when one day, all came out when I did spring cleaning. What did I do? I distributed to my kids. Yet I still had that habit of misplacing. So I kept on applying. One day, I had to check with the petrol station and started getting rid of some of them.

Now, I'm more careful as I keep them in my purse.

Talking about the Petron card, someone dropped his card at my shop. I just left it at the counter but nobody seemed to claim it. It had been lying around for a couple of months and instead of throwing it away, I had an idea.

I used the card to pour some petrol and got the receipt. There were 1200 points. I went to redeem stuff from the convenient shop. Total RM13.50. So I just paid RM1.50. With two packets of foodstuff, I gave one to the station attendant. He was surprised.

On my way back, I passed by the usual Sunday recycling centre. I gave the other packet to the person on duty. He thanked me but I should thank the person who lost the card.

My first experience of this kind. I felt that I shouldn't use the points for myself. Thus, donating it to others in another way.

  1. Could the person who lost his/her card get a replacement card and access the existing points? If this could be done, wouldn't that person be surprised to discover that all the existing points have been used?

    1. One needs to know his old card number in order to merge the existing points.

  3. That sound good. Instead of spending on yourself, you donate to others. I am sure the card owner wouldnt mind otherwise he may have cone back to claim his missing card. Maybe he has applied new one by now.

  4. How come you can use up the point? Guess the card is already activated it.

Sometimes people will just collect points, but forget to activated the card.Let say the (new) card is not activated, the card will not go through to redeem anything.

    1. If not activated, points couldn't be collected.

Petrol cards are not protected, I suppose.

    1. Well, get the card just to collect points and redeem petrol. It's good.

  7. you should not have redeemed the points on the cardholder's behalf.. he or she would have gone to apply for a new card like you and then found out all points were missing!! or the points are actually tagged to the card instead of the person??

    1. If he had done so, the card would have been barred. Actually the points is just tagged to the card, I suppose. Unless like mine, my name is printed on the latest card.
