$1 coin

Image
I found 2 $1 coins at my husband's shop. This kind of coin is no more in use . The $ sign is not used anymore. Instead it's Ringgit Malaysia ( RM ). It was bigger than the size of a 50 sen. comparison (tail) comparison (head) Because of this coin , I recalled our trip to Mines Wonderland. Coin Garden at Mines Wonderland The Mines Wonderland, built around a former mining-pool, is a recreation park that is fast becoming one of Kuala Lumpur's most popular family weekend stops. The Wonderland offers water sports, amusement rides, a winter-house with snow as well as restaurants and various facilities. It's not far off from the KL-Seremban Expressway. The Wonderland is about 20 minutes drive away from the heart of the Federal Capital. At night, glittering floats parade on the lake while a stunning laser and multimedia presentation entertains and mesmerizes visitors.

Simple Menu

Image
Usually my mum would prepare meals for my family. But for the whole of this week, she is on vacation. So, I have to take over her task especially the preparation of meals. Here, I have a very simple menu for lunch today. deep-fried taufu, stir-fried long beans with fish cake and barley with fu chok My children are very simple. They just take what is given. Same as my husband. I brought the lunch for him in a tiffing carrier. He ate his lunch at the shop. Do you cook your own meals?

Mr Handsome

Image
I called it Mr Handsome. It liked to visit my house and stayed for a number of days. May be longer too. My children would tell me when they had seen it around. One day, it's confirmed that it had come back for a visit. So I kept my ears alert. One morning, as I was walking past my dining room, I heard a noise from the corner of the room. Well, I kept some boxes under the unused chairs. Slowly I removed the boxes one by one while still keeping my ears alert. Then, I heard it. It was from one of the boxes next to the cupboard. I quietly but quickly put a heavy plastic container on top of the identified box. Then, I used my right leg to push the box out from the dining room to the kitchen's door. Braving myself, I held the box, walked out barefooted and quickly put the box on the road next to the drain opposite my house. I removed the container, took a long stick and opened up the box. Guess what was that..

Chinese Birthday Culture

Image
On my Chinese birthdays, my mum usually celebrates for me in a simple way. That is by cooking me a bowl of mee sua with two eggs . The celebration of birthdays in Chinese culture is quite different from the way it is celebrated in Western culture. red-dyed eggs The Chinese believes that a baby's birthday falls on the day he is conceived. Hence, the day he is born is the day he turns one year old. vermicelli (mee sua) which signified longevity herbal soup ingredients, pat chan the herbal soup boiled with chicken the mee sua with the herbal soup and eggs my bowl of mee sua! A very important practice for the Chinese is that for every birthday, an additional year is added to the birthday person. Say he/she is celebrating his/her 10th birthday. For the Chinese, it would be his/her 11th birthday instead. They believe that this would ensure the birthday person would live through the year and see the next.

1MH

I was at the KLIA last Saturday and the advertisement of Malaysian Hospitality (MH) really impressed me. With aspirations of becoming a world champion in the airline industry over the next five years, MAS is spending RM8mil to RM10mil for its MH campaign to refresh and reposition the brand. Communication senior general manager Indira Nair said like any other brand, MAS has to be dynamic. The campaign, which is part of MAS' business transformation plan, aims at giving customers a seamless and hassle-free travel experience that is imbued with graciousness and warmth. When customers talk about hospitality, they are looking for the basics. They want to feel important, be treated well and with respect. “We believe we need to treat every passenger as we would treat a guest in our own homes,” Indira said. Great campaign!

Eden

Image
I was at the KLIA yesterday night and I came across this restaurant called EDEN. After browsing through the menu, I knew that it was a very expensive place. So I just ordered a few items. Penang Syle Ice-Kacang with Ice-Cream RM10 Crispy Waffle Rolls with Avacado Paste RM8 Seafood Spaghetti RM23 Seasonal Fresh Local Fruits RM5 Expensive indeed, right? Anyway, the food tasted good.

Hit n Run

Image
I was on my way to KL with my son during the wee hour in the morning. Imagine the sky was still dark and the highway was a bit lonely. Suddenly, a dog appeared at the right side of the highway. I was driving on the middle lane . I was hoping that it would just stay put there. But, it ran to the fast lane and a car was coming fast. It quickly ran to the middle lane. Safe from the car. Again I was hoping that it would quickly run back to its original place. But it didn't move. I wanted to move either to the fast or the slow lane. Unfortunately, there were cars on both lanes. So, I had no choice but to move along. Just hope that the dog would just stay put there so that my Unser could just move over it without hurting it. Sad to say, it decided to run when I almost reached it. Thought I heard a loud bang. Sorry about that. I just couldn't stop or brake. Too bad. I had killed the dog. It was a terrible experience .

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri

Image
I started wrapping hampers since last September. A few people taught me the basics but I found my own style of wrapping. Today I wrapped two RM80 hampers and would like to share with you. May be you can wrap your own hampers for your friends. First, get all the stuff ready. Next, build the backbone using cellophane tape. Then, arrange the other stuff all around the backbone which is put in the plastic basket. Done! For display.. Wishing all Muslim blogger: Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri
