Michaelian Military Band
When my boy was young, he didn't like to learn music. I had wanted to send him to music course but he refused. So I just let him be. When he started his secondary level, he wanted to join the military band. Of course, I encouraged him to do so. He picked up the flute. I was surprised that he could play the flute well even though he has no basic in reading the notes.
He played flute for two years. Then his father bought him a saxophone and he has played it for two years too. Next year, he wants to play the trumpet..
Last Saturday was Parents' Day and I was not there as we were in Singapore.
Hop over to the facebook of
and enjoy the video which my boy has done
on Parents' Day 2012.
on Parents' Day 2012.
What a proud Mama Wenn! Your son is so talented and gifted in music!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that he likes music and join the band which he's really dedicated..
DeleteHow come you went off to Singapore instead of going to support him?
ReplyDeletesorry my plan was already fixed..
DeleteSaxophone is such an expensive piece of music. They look so curvy and beautiful in brass gold colour. It reminds me of Nat King Cole playing it.
ReplyDeleteindeed it's a beautiful piece..one day I will show you his saxophone..
DeleteMy two boys also in the band.. really "loyal" too.. Andy came back to watch the performance twice this year.. merdeka and something one.. still missing his good old band.. hahaha..
ReplyDeletethe band has great future..
DeleteIt is not easy to learn to play wind instruments like saxophone and trumpet. I tried the trumpet once but cannot get any sound to come out because one needs to purse one's lips in a certain way to get the sound.
ReplyDeleteWell done to your son for doing well in these instruments! :)
thanks, I love his playing too..
Deletethat is talent!

Deletei think it's good to let your kids learn musical instruments, i have always wanted to know how to play at least one, but too bad, too old to learn them already, haha!!
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is good to learn at least one musical intrument. I didn't know any either.
Deletegood to let them learn but my boy didn't like initially..
Deleteoh, Parents' Day?? i didn't know there is such a day, haha!! thought we already have Mothers' and Fathers' Day in May and June..
ReplyDeletethe Parents' day is meant for the parents to watch the performances by their kids..
Deletethey have a very nice event and performances for the Parents' Day, but cannot spot your boy cos the photos are moving too fast, haha~~
ReplyDeleteI missed the performance but luckily I could view the photos..
DeleteI could feel how proud you were for your kid huh

DeleteIt's always good to have a hobby or interest, at least the kids are doing something than nothing :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the calendar, wenn! I received it yesterday.
DeleteNow, i let my two girls learn piano for leisure and not for exam. I hope they love music as much as her mummy, who don't know any musical instrument.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wenn for the calendar, I got it yesterday. I really appreciate it.
DeleteYou are welcome!
DeleteMy son didn't enjoy learning music when he was young too but he started learning to play the guitar in Secondary school.
ReplyDeleteI suppose music comes to them later..
DeleteIts good to let kids learn some musical instrument.
ReplyDeleteYou must be a proud mummy~
music really heals the soul..
DeleteWhat a show-off, many people have joined the Michaelian Military Band playing much better instruments, and they are not showing off like you. Stop boasting about your som. I was also in the MMB playing the drums and nobody boasted about it on the net, not even me. You're just a show off just because your son is playing a saxophone! Really, what are you people going up to next....
