My lucky day

I was rather worried as the day grew nearer. Finally, my cashier had her last day in my shop yesterday. I had put up notice informing people about a vacancy. Initially many non-Chinese asked about it but the boss said he only wanted a Chinese cashier who would be needed to learn the Chinese herbs and so forth.

Therefore, I added the word, 'Chinese' and I received lots of comments. Why Chinese only?

Never mind about that. Since it was Mei's last day at our place, I gave her some souvenirs..

Then I was thinking: since Mei wouldn't be at the shop anymore, I would have to get to work early instead of my time at 12pm. What more, I wouldn't be able to take a break in the evening. Therefore, I would have to sacrifice my time..

Later in the evening, I was serving a customer and suddenly she asked me if I still needed a cashier as she had noticed our notice. Immediately I talked to her about our requirements and she was in.

I was so happy as I wouldn't need to bear too much of the burden. Hurray!

Another headache was my girl's transport to school since she started Form 6 three days ago. I had to take her to and fro her school. I actually dislike sending her to school but I had no choice as her former bus driver mentioned that her bus is full.

Well, I happened to know a teacher in her school. Her son is studying in the same school too. Out of a sudden, she came to my shop and called me. I quickly asked for her favor and she was so obliging. And it is so convenient too as she lives just a stone's throw away from my home. Problem solved and I only need to fetch her from school should she stays back for her co-curriculum activities.

I felt so good...

    Nice to get stuff taken care of. Just a note: If we put something like "Chinese only" on a help wanted sign here in the US we would be made to take it down for discrimination!

      Yes it is understandable that the Cashier needs to be chinese or at least other race who have been to Chinese School coz need to earn all the chinese herbs names.

      Hahaha...one more criteria the boss forgot to add la...must be fearless too coz some herbs are made of animal or sea creature parts like dried sea horse....some will geli to see.

    I agree with Small Kucing, that the requirement is to hire someone who can read, write and speak Chinese, not necessary the person needs to be a Chinese. Don't you think so?

    Glad you manage to find a new cashier so soon! About the teacher who is giving your daughter a life to school in the morning, will you be paying her a token fee to reimburse her petrol cost?

Twin bananas

Today this cute little darling visited me. His grandparents brought him over for the very first time. He's so cute as he smiled readily. I was tempted to carry him and he was fine with that. Some babies don't like strangers.  I carried him and kissed his cheek several times..So adorable. Without hesitation, I gave him an ang pow. his granddad put him on the table and I took a shot of him.. When I went back home in the evening, I realized that the bunch of bananas at the altar has ripen. I brought the bunch to my shop and shared with my people. There was this particular twin bananas and my worker wanted them. She peeled them and I could see that they were adjoined all the way down. Well, old wives tale has it that those ladies who ate them would give birth to twins in future..
