A visit to the dentist
I am actually very lazy to visit the dentist. But in this month itself, I had made a few visits. The first time was when I went to see my usual dentist. She told me she wouldn't do stuff like extracting of teeth. Minor chores would be done by her partner. But since the latter was on leave, I had no choice but to visit another new dentist.
Last Thursday, I had visited the new dentist and she had extracted my wisdom tooth. She had advised me to have scaling done on my teeth. The last time I had scaling done was a year ago.
So this morning, I decided to visit the dentist again. I had waited an hour before I was called in.
In fact I was the only one waiting until later another person joined me.
She was attending to the other patient so I started clicking away.
I was waiting patiently for about 5 minutes or so..
The scaling was done in about 20 minutes and I like the way she did. So professional.
I had expected it to be expensive.
It's RM50.
Next dental check-up in 6 months time.
Have you gone for your dental check-up yet?
hmmm, i actually do not have the habit of regular dental checkup!! i am very scared of seeing a dentist actually, haha.. the last two times i went to visit dentists were like two to three years ago..
ReplyDeletenormally we don't visit the dentist unless we have tooth problem.
Deletemy second molar on the bottom right was painful, i first went to a dentist nearby my workplace to get it filled.. i didn't like the way she did it, very rough and no polite, and the charges were expensive!! i remember it was RM300, ouch, my heart was more painful than the tooth!! haha~~
ReplyDeletewow, RM300 for a filling? Very expensive! Here's it's only about RM50 or so.
Deletecouple of months later, the filling came off and i started to feel the pain again, i went to see another dentist somewhere else, wanted to fill it again but she told me the tooth cannot be filled anymore because it's already broken into two!! so i had it extracted, for once and for all.. the charges for the extraction was one third of that filling, if i knew i would have it extracted on the first hand..
ReplyDeleteMe terbalik oohh.. I'm willing to do watever it takes to save my tooth... Will never extract it nomatter wat! But since your tooth already broken into two, wah no choice lor... Cant save it liao..
DeleteNormally the dentist will try to save the tooth unless it's in a bad condition.
DeleteYou are a good customer to go back for the scaling. I find it weird that your regular dentist does not want to extract teeth but to leave all the extraction to the partner.
ReplyDeleteI always trust the one and the only one dentist. But she has a lot of appointments to be filled so minor chores will be carried out by her partner.
DeleteRm50 for scaling is ok. Here in KL, my regular dentish charges Rm80 for normal scaling & cleaning.. X ray belum kira lagi..
ReplyDeletemaybe it's still considered cheap over here.
DeleteWenn, where is this dentist? I have yet to find a nice gentle one... the Ong clinic is always so busy...
ReplyDeleteIt's in first garden..same row with seven eleven.
DeleteThe last one was in December.
ReplyDeleteThis dental clinic looks nice enough. The one I went has a nice picture in the ceiling. Mend to distract you while you are in pain I think. ^_^
It's meant for young kids I suppose..
DeleteFor me, I just simply closed my eyes.
Good morning Wenn...
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Sharon!
DeleteSame with SK, i do not have the habit of visiting the dentist unless my teeth having problem...
ReplyDeleteMost people tend to neglect this habit but it's a good routine to have regular check-ups.
DeleteHave a great weekend ahead...
ReplyDeleteThanks..you too, Sharon.
DeleteI got toothache for few days already, poor...
ReplyDeleteWill go to dentist if really tak boleh tahan!
better go for a check-up. Actually nothing to fear.
DeleteGood afternoon wenn!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I have the habits to go for my annual dental check up, usually it's in December. It's always better to be safe than sorry, call me kiasu but I personally think it's important to have our teeth checked before it's too 'late' ;)
I go for my body check up in December too, so that I don't have to remember so many dates, and I won't miss the check up, hehe~
DeleteThat's a very good habit. Keep it up. I will try to maintain this habit too.
DeleteYet to go this year. Always procrastinate until late of the year ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, try to get over it as soon as possible.
DeleteI'm lazy as well.........to go see dentist, I had mine in August something and I think the next check up is coming soon!!!
ReplyDelete6 months is too soon. I will make it once a year.
DeleteRm 50 is cheap. Nowadays, dental procedure cost around rm 100 and above.
ReplyDeleteI suppose this clinic charges cheaper.
DeleteI just visited the dentist right after cny
ReplyDeleteWhen the dentist tried to inject into my gums i scream
But luckily my dentist is a kind and gentle one
He console me
I extracted two teeth that is loose cost me S$90
Cannot claim cos i am self employed
Oh, this dentist applied gel onto my gum first before she injected it. I didn't feel any pain.
DeleteI didn't claim too as it's my personal affair.
I wonder why most people have no phobia to visit dentists? I had terrible phobia for many years since small to visit the deadly dentists. My wife managed to hypnotize me after getting her clinical hypnosis cert. I managed to go without fear since last year and surgeon found so many problems inside my mouth!!!
ReplyDeleteI had to extract few teeth besides doing 3 Canal root Treatments and 3 Crownings!! Goodness me!
DeleteWell, the surgeon quickly pointed out smartly to me that I must have fallen down when I was young and hit my gums with internal injuries. When grown up later, most victims would develop dead roots which requires Root Canal Treatments!
The dental surgeon was so accurate and precise!!
It has been over a year, and I am still getting treatments for the last tooth!!!
DeleteAh Niu the famous singer reported in entertainment news that he had to extract 16 teeth as they were all rotten & decayed besides crooked (his trademark)!!! he would have tooth implants which would take him 15 months to finish all. I am not that bad yeah!
I wouldn't dare to do any crowning and root treatment. Sounds so scary. My sister had teeth implant and it cost her a lot.
DeleteYou are right. I think most people don’t visit their dentist until they experience tooth problems. That is not good, especially if they want to keep those pearly whites. So, even if you have zero cavities, it’s better to make sure it stays that way than burden yourself with the expenses of saving it from decay. Leigh at Arbor Ridge Family Dental
ReplyDeleteWicked. Dental work should be all like that. Not a drastic measure or a foreboding event, but a course that should be delivered in a jiff. Teeth is merely an area of concern which must only needs to be delineated and resolved. There really is no need to be that afraid of the dentist, and the alternative of not going could be far worse. Good dental service should get to this point succintly and precisely. So yeah, it shouldn't take so many hours.

When you failed to visit your dentist after a long time, you might feel dreadful coming back. That’s why it’s best to make regular checkup a habit and not just wait until you have a tooth problem. You are actually wasting more money if you don’t keep up with the routine. – Vicatoria @ Chapel Hill, NC Dentistry
