Being honest

The other day I sent my Camri for a car wash but just the exterior. This evening, my girl sent my Corolla for a wash at the same place. She had the car interior being cleaned too. And also water waxed it. All in she paid RM20.

She came back and I saw that the car was shining clean. I just took the car and drove to work. Later in the evening, my husband came back from home after his evening bath. He told me that my girl wanted to go back to the car wash place to scold the car wash guy for stealing her ang pow money. He forbade her from doing so and gave her RM20 to replace the lost.

Later after work, she told me that she was actually waiting for them to finish cleaning the car interior. She was wondering what took them so long. She least expected that they would take the money out from her two ang pows.

She actually saw the any pows were still in her recycling bag. But when she came back home, she was dumbfounded when she realized that the ang pows were empty.

She told me she actually wanted to go back to the place, scold them and throw the ang pows at them. But I reminded her that they actually wrote down our car number. So it's not safe to do that. Furthermore, they are guys who could harm her.

She regretted for leaving her ang pows in the car. Well, I told her: It had happened. A lesson learnt. Just treat it like a donation.

  1. It is true what both of you told your daughter. Personal safety is more important than the money.

  6. ah, bad luck!! first thing is to ask if she is very sure that she did not misplaced her angpows, cause without any proof it's not good to blame others.. if that's really the case that the carwasher took her angpow, then bad luck lah, lesson learned and will never go back to the same place again.. let everyone she knows learn about her experience with the carwasher.. but actually lucky that it's just RM20 angpow and not really a large sum of money or any valuables being taken.. :)

  8. Never mess with those guys. Since they are so 'tamak', let them take. And your advise to your girl is great. Just treat that as a donation.

  12. I can imagine your daughter's anger towards them as she is still young. Both you parents are so wise to calm her down and advised her to look at the pros & cons before taking drastic actions.

I often left plenty of loose coins all over the car and often checked when I collected my car. I think they were not interested in loose changes! Anyway, prevention is better than cure.

  13. I liked the way your hubby offered her the money to replace her loss. It clearly reminded me when I was in primary school and I went to buy school text books on my own with a friend. I was being extorted by a drug addict at the back lanes with a knife. I went home and cried for losing the money. My mum consoled me to be more careful in future and gave me the whole sum again.
