Nostalgia
I started my TESL degree in UPSI Tanjong Malim in 2000. I graduated in 2002. During my time in UPSI, I was staying in Bernam Baru and I drove to the university.
Yesterday, I was on my way back from Shah Alam and I purposely dropped by Tanjong Malim. I wanted to meet my coursemate but unfortunately she was teaching in the school. So I made the decision to drive in the UPSI campus.
This place is new to me. I love those handicrafts.
Here's my favorite building. I loved to spend my free time in the library.
What's this? It's a modern-looking building!
I used to love attending lectures in this 'Bangunan Cancelor'. Because all the lectures rooms were air-conditioned. Furthermore, the lecturers' rooms were situated there.
I suppose it's still the same inside.
My other course mate was wondering why
I posted so many UPSI's pictures
on facebook.
He asked, 'Nostalgia ka?'
Would you visit your school/university/college?
Would you visit your school/university/college?
Your alma mater has developed a lot! Really nostalgic to walk down memory lane, right? Yes, of course I would visit the place I studied in before.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, I love to do that..
Deletei think i will not purposely go there but if i am ever nearby or passed by, i think why not just drop by for a "nostalgia" visit?? hahaha.. i think surely brings back a lot of good (or probably also bad) memories when you are in there again.. it will surely make you feel different being there as a visitor from being a student back then.. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so much different when we go there as a visitor.
Deletei like that Bangunan Cancelor too, looks like something that's already there since the colonial days?? and i supposed that high rise modern building was a later addition to the campus??
ReplyDeleteThe Chancellor building was new when I was there. The modern building must be an addition recently.
DeleteReally bring back lots memories.. Glad you were able to make a turn into your uni..
ReplyDeleteIf you ask me, I would like to visit my college, but not my primary/secondary school.. I know I'm weird, coz most people would LOVE to visit their primary school. I did not have a happy childhood during my primary/secondary school days, thus, it did not give me sweet memories.
I always passed by my secondary school when I drive in KL, it's located in Pudu (Pudu English Secondary Girls School), but I don't feel like I want to go in there..
I can easily pass by my primary and secondary schools when I visit Taiping.
DeleteMy teacher's training college in KL is not there anymore.
ReplyDeleteWhat is TESL?
it's Teaching English as a Second Language
DeleteIn Malaysia, English is 2nd Language?
DeleteYes. BM is the first language.
DeleteMemang brings back good old memories if you visit your former schools, colleges or universities.. you feel you are young again!
ReplyDeleteIt brings back memories of my student's life.
DeleteI like the modern-looking building!!! Nope, haven't go back any of them....paiseh to go back, hehehe...coz I was pretty naughty last time!!! =[
ReplyDeletewell, it's nice to visit them if possible.
DeleteYes I would
ReplyDeleteI dont mind visiting my colleges. Am sure a lot of changes there.
ReplyDeletethings change as time passes by..
DeleteGood afternoon wenn!
ReplyDeleteWhat a hot Tuesday here!
Wow, you graduated in 2002? That was like 12 years ago! The visit sure bring back a lot of nice memories!
DeleteI graduated in 2007, I miss UM very much! Had been thinking to go back there one day!
Now I visit UM very often because my wife is doing her Masters there. Nothing much has changed and they really need to repaint the walls besides putting more traffic lights to ease the congestion. I saw the huge lake and believed many couples held hands there. Aha!
DeleteIf you miss it, you should make the visit one day.
Deletewow, TM really spends some of his time in UM.
What a WENNderful memories of your time at UPSI. That Universiti Pendidikan has rolled out many excellent teachers today and Wenn has become a businesswoman and famous blogger!!! LOL.
ReplyDeletehaha..I should remain as a teacher..
DeleteHello, I'm a fellow TESL-ian too and graduated in 1999 :) I revisited my alma matter many times and each time I went, I saw more new buildings and less greenery... how sad.
